It might not seem like a big deal to most dog owners, but after 18 months of life with KiKi, seeing her remain entirely calm in the sudden presence of a strange dog is a significant milestone. We’ve seen this crusty old boy regularly taking himself for a walk for years now. Leica seems to like him well enough for reasons best known to her, so when we first encountered him after adopting KiKi she rushed towards him only to find her behaviour completely misinterpreted by KiKi who promptly chased him off. This time, after a momentary reaction when he first arrived from behind us, KiKi seems well, nearly normal. Morning walks by the river are progressively less challenging, the routine encounters and familiar scents all playing their part in helping KiKi keep calm, her list of acceptable canine company continues to grow.
