The Long Journey Begins

So. KiKi is coming home. We collected her today from ASH. The journey down to Wicklow seemed endless. When we arrived we found Remi, Helena and their volunteers swamped. Six dogs were to be rehomed today, including KiKi, while the rest of the dogs still needed to be walked and fed and tended to.

KiKi is in isolation, not in the pen where we first saw her. In the time since our first visit she has been spayed at our request – we have no intentions of breeding from her despite what is apparently a well documented Kennel Club lineage – and is being kept in a separate enclosure while she still has her stitches in from the procedure.

I get the same exuberant reaction as at our first meeting, but I suspect anyone would have. KiKi wants out of that pen in a big, big way. She almost sends me backwards into the wall as she bursts out of the gate. Paperwork done we drop off 30Kg of dry dog food we brought, Remi isn’t particularly impressed with the brand, something we will look into in the future. We have Flash’s spare collar and harness with us, although using them seems a little sad. We load KiKi into the car.
